Buying Pet Medication Online

by admin on November 23, 2009

As everyone is aware there is a world wide recession, and most of us are all feeling the crunch. We are all affected by this and in turn it also affects animals, especially pets. This can be witnessed by the number of animals that have been abandoned to pet sanctuaries or, even worse, left by the side of the road to fend for themselves. Conversely less people are prepared to rescue and re-house these animals as the cost is prohibitive. No true pet owner and animal lover would ever want to abandon their pet but it is a difficult choice to make when it comes to looking after oneself, ones family or ones pet. Of course it is recognized that to some people their pets are their family so what follows in this article should be of even more interest to them. We will all agree that people shouldn’t have pets unless they are prepared to love and care for them. In terms of care, one of the costliest areas is that of looking after your pets’ health. Whether it is a short term problem or ongoing they still deserve the best health care we can give them. If your pet is suffering from a long term problem, veterinary practitioner’s prescription charges can be particularly expensive. This brings me to the main theme of this article; buying pet medication online. There are several advantages to purchasing your pet medication online. There is the convenience and time saving factor, pets are less likely to miss a regular dose if the vet has forgotten to order in since the medication is delivered directly to the pet owner’s home, but most of all there is the savings in cost. Many discount pet medication websites are able to sell pet prescriptions and non-prescription items for a significantly lower price since the website is able to purchase the medications in bulk at a lower cost from the prescription drug manufacturer, whereas a veterinary clinic only purchases limited amounts of any particular pet medication. The buying of non-prescription medicines on line should be relatively straightforward. These are the sorts of things you would normally purchase anyway but this time you should get them at discount prices and they are delivered straight to your door, for example flee or tick powders such as Advantage and Frontline, vitamin supplements or oral hygiene products and heartworm medication like Heartguard, Arthogen for healthy bones and joints, Atopica for the control of atopic dermatitis and many more pet medications and grooming aids. Regarding prescription medication a word of warning needs to be introduced: Never try to self prescribe and always seek the advice of a professional veterinarian! Just because a friend has the same breed of cat dog or any other pet as you doesn’t mean they can advise you. Like humans, all pets are different with different health histories, weight and age differences, etc. So you must be guided by your vet. Some animals may need short term prescription medication for such things as diarrhea or antibiotics for curing minor infections or cuts and grazes, whereas others may need long term medication for the treatment of such things as heart disease, arthritis, diabetes or even allergies. As long as you can obtain the correct and certified medication, have been authorized by your vet administer it and your pet is subjected to regular checkups, there should be no problem. Whether you are a pet owner of long standing or just considering buying a pet, purchasing your pet medication online should be well worth your while. Not only for the savings you might make, but for the peace of mind of knowing you have some control over your pet’s health. It is an ideal opportunity for parents who are new to animal ownership to get children involved in looking after and having hands on experience in the health and welfare of their new pet. Buying pet medications online is no different that buying them at your vet’s office except there is a lot less hassle. All the pet medication online products are the same manufacturers that you have trusted with the well-being of your pet for many years.

buying medication online?
has anybody ever bought medication online, i searched the internet and there’s tons of websites, i’m just wondering if anyone can recommend an online pharmacy that you or anyone you know have used and you had a good experience with, especially if it’s from canada meds seems to be cheaper there.

Yes, I have. I found that it wasn’t a good idea for me. I must take my medications every day. Online pharmacies might or might not be able to fulfill my orders in a timely manner. If that happens in a brick and mortar store, then I just go on down the road to the next pharmacy, and more than likely I will be able to get my prescription filled. If that happens with an online or mailorder pharmacy, then I have to wait for the mail to come, notice that it hasn’t arrived, try to contact the pharmacy (maybe they’ll answer their phone, maybe the phone number isn’t even listed), and then wait again to get them to send out the meds…and they will swear that they sent out the meds the first time, too, so if I want them I will have to pay twice, and insurance won’t cover the second sending.

This assumes, of course, that the online pharmacy sends out the RIGHT meds in the first place. Sometimes they don’t, in which case I have to send the wrong meds back and wait and wait and wait for the correct meds.

Online pharmacies are notorious for selling stuff that’s illegal in the US, too. This doesn’t just mean stuff like Tylenol with codeine in it, this means that sometimes they’ll sell stuff that’s out of date, or even worse, that is fake medicine. Fake medicine is generally something inert, like sugar pills, that’s been made to appear to be the brand name medicine, but of course it does the patient no good at all.
