Any suggestions for natural or holistic supplements for a dog with kidney failure?

by admin on December 7, 2009

Our dog was just diagnosed with kidney failure a couple of weeks ago. We’ve changed to a prescription diet with phosphorus binder added to it. He seemed to be doing well with the change (after a 3 night stay on iv fluids in the vet hospital) but when he was in for a re-check, his Creat and BUN levels have increased again. Any suggestions for a natural or holistic remedy that can help heal his kidneys?

Though a lot of natural remedies are very safe, since your dog’s health is quite delicate right now, I suggest you go to a holistic vet, to make sure you get exactly the right thing for him. Just to be on the safe side.

I would seek out a holistic vet if that is the road you want to go. They will have much more knowledge int he area. My biggest advice I can give you is LOW protein diet. Sorry to hear about this!
